Dhaka, Dec 16 (UNB) – The world’s largest human national flag of Bangladesh was created at the National Parade Ground in the city on Monday, marking the Victory Day.
Private mobile phone operator Robi, in partnership with Bangladesh Army, made the ever-largest Bangladesh flag, which will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
The incredible attempt started at 1:36pm with 27,117 volunteers helping create the flag.
Each person held a coloured placard and the 27,117 people collectively created the largest flag in the world to shatter a standing Guinness World Record.
They kept the green and red placards above their heads for six minutes and 16 seconds to make the history.
The main objective of the event was not only to celebrate the Victory Day but also to show the world the inner strength and unity of the people of Bangladesh.
A Guinness-accredited auditor was present to oversee the attempt.
All relevant documents and images will be sent to the Guinness World Record committee for validation.
Previously, the largest human national flag was created in Pakistan on October 21, 2012 with 24,200 participants attending the Punjab Youth Festival at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.
