Police on Thursday has dispersed a procession of local
Jubo League men in Munshiganj by charging baton. At least three people
reportedly injured during the police action.
The Awami Juba League of Munshiganj unit brought out a procession in the city this noon demanding release of its detained leader Saiful Islam Elan. Elan’s daughter Aliza Aktar led the procession.
Witnesses said around 12:00pm police barred the procession at Supermarket area in the town and one stage police charged baton to disperse them.
The injured were admitted to Munshiganj General Hospital.
Among the protesters police also arrested Aliza Aktar and Md Maruf from the spot, officer-in-charge of Munshiganj police station Yunus Ali said.
Earlier on Wednesday police arrested Saiful Islam Elan with a foreign pistol as he shoot at a local Awami League leader over sharing money of a piece of land.
