South Africa cricketer Rilee Rossouw was penalised today for shoving
Tamim Iqbal on field during the second ODI match at Mirpur yesterday.
International Cricket Council (ICC) found Rossouw guilty of breaching its code of conduct and fined him 50 percent of his match fee.
Rossouw’s shoulder shove to Tamim after the latter got out in the second over of Bangladesh’s batting was found “inappropriate and deliberate” by the ICC, a media release issued today said.
Rossouw pleaded guilty to the charge laid by the on-field umpires Enamul Haque and Richard Illingworth, as well as third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Anisur Rahman.
“Rilee was very mature in discussions relating to the charge. He felt it was inappropriate but not deliberate, an explanation to which I agreed,” said David Boon of the panel of ICC match refrees.
“However, there is no place for any form of physical contact in our game and such actions should be punished,” he added.
