UGC official dies due to torture in RAB custody: Family
Family members of Omar Siraj, an official of the University Grants Commission who died in Rab custody on Thursday, have claimed that he died due to inhuman torture in custody.

Talking to reporters at Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, Ashraful Alam Ashraf, elder brother of Omar said, “He (Siraj) didn’t die of cardiac arrest…he died due to inhuman torture by the elite force members as Omar was put on Rab remand thrice since his arrest on September 18.”
Besides, Sabina Yasmin Shampa, wife of Omar, also held the elite force responsible for her husband’s death, UNB reports.
Meanwhile, Wazed Ali, sub-inspector of Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Station, said Omar had several injury marks on his right hand wrist and left elbow.

Omar Sajraj, an assistant director of University Grants Commission (UGC), who had been arrested by Rab-4 on September 18 for his suspected link with question paper leakage, died on Thursday under Rab custody.
Contacted, ASP Mojahid of Rab-4, said on completion of four-day remand separately, Omar was taken on a fresh two-day remand following the petition filed by Rab-4 on September 29.

On Thursday, Omar complained of chest pain around 4:45 pm and he was later taken to National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases (NICVD) at Sher-e-Banglanagar around 5:30 pm where he died around 7:15 pm, ASP Mojahid said.
