Two BGB men were killed as a truck hit their motorcycle on the Dhaka-Dinajpur highway in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur, sparking a clash between the paramilitary forces and the locals this afternoon.
At least 13 people were injured, three by bullets, as aggrieved BGB members of nearby Battalion-29 attacked local people and fired bullets following the road accident, said Ruhul Amin, superintendent of police in Dinajpur.
A speedy truck rammed the motorcycle of BGB jawans -- Md Al Amin, 19, and Md Rubel, 20, -- in Rangamati area around 1:20pm when they were returning from Birampur upazila, leaving them dead on the spot.
Hearing the incident, some aggrieved BGB members went to the spot and attacked the local people and vandalised several roadside shops, leaving 10 people injured. However, the senior officials took the marauding BGB men back to the barrack, our Dinajpur correspondent reports quoting the police official.
As the locals took to the Dhaka-Dinajpur highway protesting the attack, the BGB men went there from their camp which is 50 metres away from the spot, triggering a fresh clash.
The BGB members opened fire when the protesting people attacked them and vandalised their vehicles around 3:40pm, said Lt Col Zahedur Rashid, commander of Battalion-29.
The injured including three with bullet wounds were admitted to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex. One of the injured was taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.

However, police recovered the bodies of BGB jawans and sent those to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
