DAPPLING IN THE DAPPER

DAPPLING IN THE DAPPER
Can a man ever go wrong in a suit? Statistics will definitely tell you that it's next to impossible. There's nothing like the timeless appeal of a classy man clad in a suit and tie. The wedding season in winter allowed every man to go all out with their suits, ties, vests and pocket squares. Those who lead the corporate lifestyle could make all their fantasies of dressing up in suits like Harvey Specter a reality.  But now that the temperature is getting a little warmer, it's sadly time to ditch the elaborate suits.
SUIT UP IN SUMMER

The problem is, though, that a lot of men aren't aware of the fact that there's more to suits than just your run-of-the-mill ones. Hence, we sadly see a lot of men bringing out their suits only for the winter and for the extra special occasions in the summer. And let's not even talk about all the electricity men waste by turning up the air conditioner in offices, just so that they can keep their suits on regardless of how hot it is!
Make room in your closet for a variety of more lightweight suits in breathable fabrics that are just perfect for the warmer weather. You can blend a laid-back, summery look with your professional attire by sporting a summer suit. The best part is, they are also more cost effective compared to their heavier, more elaborate darker counterparts.
Summer suits are versatile enough to be dressed up or down, especially the lighter colours like khaki, which makes a sight for sore eyes in the heat. You can add a white shirt and black tie to stay formal, or pair it with a plaid or printed shirt for a more casual vibe.
Another fantastic option to keep cool in the heat would be linen. Look for material that is heavier than typical linen, though, to avoid having a suit that will wrinkle with every movement. Stay away from pure linen; linen blends are the best option.
For those of you who don't like taking giant leaps, why not go for a safe, light grey? You can mix and match light grey with whatever the heck you want! A light grey suit looks best with brown shoes, so it offers an excellent excuse for you to go shoe shopping, too.
To simplify your choices, check out Cats Eye's range of blazers. Introduced last summer, Cats Eye offers blazers that fit the unique requirements of the region. Given the weather, these blazers are made using linen and cotton. The line has proven to be quite popular and can be worn all year around. Now that world fashion already accepts blazers as an industry standard, Bangladesh too isn't far from the trend, so why should you be?
Cats Eyes extremely light blazers, without the extra paddings and half-lining, makes this the best choice. The price ranges from Tk.9000 to Tk.10500 for cotton ones and Tk.11000-12000 for linen based suits. One can purchase just the blazer or the whole set, along with the numerous accessories that Cats Eye has to offer.
To the more adventurous souls out there, perhaps you might consider buying that bright-coloured suit that you've been dying to try on. It seems like bright coloured blazers are trending at the moment, especially in the warmer months.
If your office relaxes the dress code for summer, you're free to pick a bolder look. And in a summer wedding, you can go all out. For extra style points, pair it with dark jeans.
Don't be the guy who is wearing a suit to look good, but can't stop perspiring because of the weather. Remember that a huge part of being fashionable is being comfortable in whatever it is you are wearing. This way, you will not only look dapper all year round, but maximise your comfort too.

GREET THE HEAT
The long bouts of sunshine hint that the cooler weather is now a thing of the past in Dhaka city. While the ladies are a little sad to see their beloved winter wear packed away for next year, all hope is not lost. This is the perfect weather to bring out those pieces that in a few months might be too warm to wear. While cotton and linen will remain the staple fabrics during the months of blistering heat, now is the time to play with a few other fabrics in your closet.
Chiffon is one such fabric you can take full advantage of during this interim. While a chiffon top and the tank top underneath restrict a lot of air in the more humid months, you can comfortably wear chiffon tops and dresses now. Other synthetic fabrics include polyester, satin, etc. which you can sport by picking out your favourite jumpsuits and dresses. The vibrant colours and prints that we are deprived from later in the year because they are on these warmer fabrics can be ours to play with now. You can comfortably throw on a light blazer or shrug as well.
Also remember that you can accessorise to your heart's content during this time of the year. Anyone remember how sweaty our necks get when we wear necklaces or wrap around scarves in July? Yes, now it's coming back to you, isn't it? Now that you remember, bring out all the statement necklaces, especially the imitation ones in gold and silver which may get discoloured due to the humidity from May onwards. Take full advantage of the weather and wear all your beloved pieces, both in terms of clothing and accessories, while you still can!
