Woman murders husband, surrenders

AHMEDABAD: A 50-year-old woman approached Sardarnagar police station on Saturday evening and stated that she wanted to surrender as she had murdered her husband. Shocked, the policemen verified her story and also recovered the body from her residence in Noblenagar. Police have mentioned marital discord as the reason for the incident.

According to Sardarnagar police, Narsinh Vaghela, 55, and his wife Vimala, 50, residents of Nandigram, were involved in a catering business with their sons Sunil, 30, and Tulsi, 25. On Saturday, Sunil, his wife Anu and her sister Daksha started off for market for Diwali shopping at 3.30 pm. Tulsi was already out for work.

"We are yet to ascertain the exact cause of feud but Narsinh and Vimala entered into a heated argument around 4 pm and also came to fisticuff. In a fit of rage, Vimala took a wooden crate and hit it repeatedly on Narsinh's head that resulted into his death. Realizing what she had done, she locked the house and started off without any specific direction. She later came to the police station and surrendered self," said a Sardarnagar police official.

P B Jadeja, inspector of Sardarnagar police station, said they have recovered the body and have started questioning the family members to ascertain the cause of altercation.

Sources said that Vimala did not have a sense of remorse after she handed herself over for investigation. "It is rare that a killer comes to the police station as a matter of resignation about the incident. We have approached the couple's sons to know whether their parents used to fight frequently," said an official.
