The people of the country are looking forward to the politicians to
save them from self-defeating politics, Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur
Rahman said today.
The governor of the central bank made the comment in a programme in
the capital where stipends were distributed among students, Bangla daily
Prothom Alo reports.
Mercantile Bank organised the programme “Abdul Jalil Stipend” at a hotel.
“All out achievements and prospects will become fade, if the
prevailing destructive trend prolongs or sustains in the name of
political turmoil and establishing the rights of people,” the governor
said while addressing the programme “Abdul Jalil Stipend” organised by
Mercantile Bank at a hotel.
Upholding the economic development of the country, he said the gross
domestic product (GDP) growth in the country went up to more than six
percent amid the global recession and internal political crisis.
The foreign currency reserve has also crossed the US$17 billion dollar milestone, he said.
