The people of the country are looking forward to the politicians to save them from self-defeating politics, Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman said today.
The governor of the central bank made the comment in a programme in the capital where stipends were distributed among students, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
Mercantile Bank organised the programme “Abdul Jalil Stipend” at a hotel.
“All out achievements and prospects will become fade, if the prevailing destructive trend prolongs or sustains in the name of political turmoil and establishing the rights of people,” the governor said while addressing the programme “Abdul Jalil Stipend” organised by Mercantile Bank at a hotel.
Upholding the economic development of the country, he said the gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the country went up to more than six percent amid the global recession and internal political crisis.
The foreign currency reserve has also crossed the US$17 billion dollar milestone, he said.
