It’s all-party govt: Amu

Amir Hossain A

Newly sworn-in minister Amir Hossain Amu today said when a government is formed with more than one political parties, it is called an all-party government.
Amu, an advisory council member of Awami League, was talking to reporters after taking oath as a member of the cabinet, which will oversee the next general election expected to be held by January 24.
Replying to a query about role of the ministers to face the election challenges, Amu said, “The Election Commission will conduct the election. We, on behalf of the government, will do everything necessary in this regard.”
Asked about the government’s stance about the main opposition party, Amu said, “We want BNP joins the cabinet.”
He said the prime minister has formally invited the opposition to join a dialogue to resolve the prevailing crisis.
“Whenever BNP joins a dialogue, we will see that they can reach a census (with AL),” Amu said.
Asked whether BNP still can join the polls-time cabinet, the veteran AL leader said the main opposition can be a part of the cabinet through sending the names of its leaders, who will represent the party, as offered by the primer earlier.
