Messi's goal gives Miami victory

 

Lionel Messi scored for the second consecutive match to lead his team to victory. Inter Miami moved to the top of Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Atalanta United.

Messi returned to the pitch after a three-match break against the Cavaliers in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. This time, the world-winning Argentine captain has maintained his rhythm in MLS as well.

In the 11th minute of the match, Atlanta United took the lead with a late goal. However, Messi responded just nine minutes later. He equalized in the 20th minute with a great goal. As there were no more goals in the first half, the two teams went into the break with a 1-1 scoreline.

The second half was also a close battle. The match was evenly matched in terms of ball possession, passing accuracy and attack. However, F. Picault's goal in the 89th minute decided the fate of the match. Miami secured a 2-1 win on goal difference.

With this victory, Inter Miami has collected 10 points from 4 matches with three wins and one draw, which has secured the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia is in second place with 9 points, and Columbus is in third place with 8 points.

গুতেরেসের গোলটেবিলেও দ্রুত নির্বাচনের কথা বিএনপ ‘র

 বিএনপি, জামায়াত, নাগরিক ঐক্য, সিপিবি, এবি পার্টি, গণসংহতি আন্দোলন, এনসিপি এই সাতটি রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতাদের সঙ্গে গোল টেবিল বৈঠক করেছেন জাতিসংঘের মহাসচিব আন্তোনিও গুতেরেস।

আজ দুপুর ১টায় হোটেল ইন্টারকন্টিনেন্টালে এই বৈঠক হয়। জাতিসংঘ ঢাকা অফিসের উদ্যোগে এই গোল টেবিল বৈঠকটি হয়।

বৈঠকে বিএনপি মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর, স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য সালাহ উদ্দিন আহমেদ, জামায়াতে ইসলামীর নায়েবে আমির সৈয়দ আবদুল্লাহ মো. তাহের, সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল মিয়া গোলাম পরওয়ার, নাগরিক ঐক্যের সভাপতি মাহমুদুর রহমান মান্না, বাংলাদেশের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি (সিপিবি) সাধারণ সম্পাদক রুহিন হোসেন প্রিন্স, এবি পার্টির সাধারণ সম্পাদক আসাদুজ্জামান আসাদ, গণসংহতি আন্দোলনের প্রধান সমন্বয়কারী জোনায়েদ সাকি, জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টি (এনসিপি) আহ্বায়ক নাহিদ ইসলাম ও জ্যেষ্ঠ যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক সামান্তা শারমিন অংশ নেন।

বৈঠকের পর বিএনপি মহাসচিব বলেন, 'জাতিসংঘের উদ্যোগে একটা গোলটেবিল বৈঠক আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল। এখানে সংস্কার কমিশনের প্রধানরা ছিলেন। সংস্কার কমিশনগুলো সম্পর্কে জাতিসংঘ মহাসচিবকে অবহিত করা হয়েছে।'

তিনি বলেন, 'আমাদের একই কথা বলেছি আমরা। সংস্কার তো অবশ্যই করতে হবে… কিন্তু সংস্কারটা যত দ্রুত করা যায়।'

নির্বাচনকেন্দ্রিক সংস্কারগুলো আগে করে বাকিগুলো সংসদের মাধ্যমে করার ব্যাপারে বিএনপির অবস্থানের কথা পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেছেন বলে জানান মির্জা ফখরুল। তিনি বলেন, 'সংস্কারগুলো চলমান প্রক্রিয়া, সেই বিষয়গুলো আমরা বলে এসেছি।'

আপনাদের বক্তব্যের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে জাতিসংঘ মহাসচিবের জবাব কি ছিলো জানতে চাইলে মির্জা ফখরুল বলেন, 'উনি এই ব্যাপারে কোনো কমেন্ট করেননি।'

সংস্কারের বিষয়ে কোনো সময়সীমার কথা আপনারা বলেছেন কিনা প্রশ্ন করা হলে তিনি বলেন, 'ওখানে টাইম ফ্রেম নিয়ে কথা বলার কোনো প্রয়োজন নাই। কারণ এটা তো আমাদের সম্পূর্ণ অভ্যন্তরীণ ব্যাপার।'

'সংস্কার কমিশনের সঙ্গে আমাদের যোগাযোগ আছে এবং তারা যা চাচ্ছে আমরা দিয়েছি। জাতিসংঘের মহাসচিবকে আমরা টাইম ফ্রেম দিতে যাবো কেনো?'

গোলটেবিল বৈঠকে সংবিধান সংস্কার কমিশনের প্রধান অধ্যাপক আলী রীয়াজ, দুর্নীতি দমন কমিশন সংস্কার বিষয়ক কমিশনের প্রধান ইফতেখারুজ্জামান, নির্বাচন ব্যবস্থা সংস্কার কমিশনের প্রধান বদিউল আলম মজুমদার, পুলিশ সংস্কার কমিশনের প্রধান সফর রাজ হোসেন, জনপ্রশাসন সংস্কার কমিশনের প্রধান আবদুল মুয়ীদ চৌধুরী উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের আইন উপদেষ্টা অধ্যাপক আসিফ নজরুল, তথ্য উপদেষ্টা মাহফুজ আলম, প্রধান উপদেষ্টার বিশেষ সহকারী মুনির হায়দার উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

Hindi cinema an alternative reality: Shabana Azmi

 

Indian veteran actress Shabana Azmi has recently captivated the audience during a masterclass moderated by actress Vidya Balan at the 2024 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. The two icons shared insights on their journeys, the challenges of acting across different mediums, and their thoughts on the evolution of Hindi cinema.

When asked about her experience in theatre, given her celebrated performances in plays like "Tumhari Amrita" and "Broken Images", Shabana admitted, "I still see myself as a film actor. I'm trained in cinema and understand the medium much better. However, I believe the ideal situation for an actor is to work in both mediums."

"While theatre isn't my first medium, I find it incredibly challenging. The thrill of performing live on stage is unmatched. However, I wouldn't say it's the most satisfying because a film performance lasts forever, whereas theatre is ephemeral," she added.

Vidya, too, shared her apprehensions about theatre, stating, "I've been offered a few plays, but I haven't had the courage to say yes. The idea of performing in front of a live audience is extremely intimidating."
