বৈদেশিক কর্মসংস্থান হার বেড়েছে ৭৮ ভাগ

ঢাকা: বিগত জোট সরকারের  চেয়ে বর্তমান সরকারের আমলে  বৈদেশিক কর্মসংস্থানের হার ৭৮ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন প্রবাসী কল্যাণমন্ত্রী ইঞ্জিনিয়ার খন্দকার মোশাররফ হোসেন।

তিনি বৃহস্পতিবার প্রবাসী কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালযে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এক প্রশ্নের উত্তরে এ কথা জানান। তিনি বলেন, (২০০১-২০০৬) পর্যন্ত গত সরকারের পাঁচ বছরে ১৩ লাখ ২৮ হাজার ৮২৬ জন কর্মী বিদেশে যায়।

বর্তমান সরকারের এ মেয়াদে বিদেশে কর্মসংস্থান হয়েছে ২৩ লাখ ৭২ হাজার ৬৮ জন কর্মী। বিএনপি জোট সরকার  বিশ্বের ৯৭টি দেশে কর্মী পাঠাত। সেসব শ্রমবাজার ধরে রাখার পাশাপাশি আরো ৬০টি নতুন দেশে বর্তমান সরকার কর্মী পাঠাচ্ছে।

মন্ত্রী বলেন, প্রবাসীদের পাঠানো রেমিটেন্সও বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। বিগত জোট সরকারের আমলে যা ছিল ১৮.৭৪ বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার। বর্তমানে তা বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে ৫৮.৩৯ বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলারে।

এক্ষেত্রে রেমিটেন্স প্রাপ্তির হার ২১১ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে অর্থাৎ ৩৯.৬৫ বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার বেশি রেমিটেন্স এসেছে।

এছাড়া সরকারি ব্যবস্থাপনায় স্বল্প অভিবাসন ব্যয়ে বিদেশে কর্মী পাঠানোসহ কর্মীদের হয়রানি কমাতে আরো অনেক ব্যবস্থার কথা উল্লেখ করেন মন্ত্রী।  বিগত জোট সরকারের পাঁচ বছরে ৪৩ হাজার ৮৩৮ জন নারী কর্মী বিদেশে গেলেও এ সরকারের সময়ে তা ২৬৯ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে বলে জানান ইঞ্জিনিয়ার খন্দকার মোশাররফ।

সংবাদ সম্মেলনে মন্ত্রী বলেন, মালয়েশিয়ায় বসবাসরত প্রায় তিন লক্ষ অবৈধ কর্মীকে বৈধ করার জন্য সেদেশের সরকার দুই লাখ ৬৭ হাজার ৮০৩ জন অবৈধ বাংলাদেশি কর্মী রেজিস্ট্রেশন করে।

এরমধ্যে ৩০ হাজার কর্মী বিভিন্ন এজেন্ট বা দালালদের মাধ্যমে প্রতারিত হয়। সরকারের কুটনীতিক প্রচেষ্টায় প্রতারিত কর্মীদের তিনটি ক্যাটাগরিতে বৈধ করণের সুযোগ দিতে রাজি হয়েছে। ৩১ অক্টোবর থেকে আগামী ৩১ জানুয়ারি পর্যন্ত বৈধকরণের সময়সীমা নির্ধারন করেছে দেশটির সরকার।

প্রতারিতদের এ সময়ের মধ্যে মালয়েশিয়ার স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের নির্দিষ্ট ওয়ান স্টপ সেন্টারে কোন দালাল ছাড়াই বৈধকরণের জন্য যোগাযোগ করতে হবে।

Opposition gets permission for rally

The 18-party opposition combine has got permission to hold a rally in the capital tomorrow on certain conditions.
Though the opposition sought permission to hold the rally in front of BNP headquarters at Nayapaltan, police authorities asked them to hold it at Suhrawardy Udyan.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) notified BNP, the key constituent of the opposition alliance, around 5:30pm today.
Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner at DMP media wing, confirmed The Daily Star about the permission.
“We have informed the BNP leaders over phone that the permission has been granted on certain conditions,” he said.
On information, a delegation of the BNP, which includes Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque and Barkatullah Bulu, went to DMP headquarters to ask police authorities to reconsider their decision and allow them to hold the rally at Nayapaltan.
Earlier in the day, BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said BNP-led 18-party opposition bloc will hold its Friday’s rally in front of Nayapaltan office in the capital at any cost.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police imposed an indefinite ban on political meetings, rallies, human chains, demonstrations, sit-ins and processions in the capital from 6:00am Sunday.
On Wednesday, terming the ban on rally “unconstitutional” and “undemocratic”, the 18-party combine urged the authorities to withdraw it immediately to create a congenial atmosphere for talks to solve the prevailing political impasse.
Besides, the authorities today slapped similar ban in Khulna city, in an area of Barisal city and Bogra and Dinajpur municipality areas as the ruling Awami League and main opposition BNP planned meetings at the same venue for October 25.

Govt ‘illegal’ from tomorrow: Khaleda

Opposition leader Khaleda Zia has claimed that the Awami League-led government will turn “illegal” from tomorrow.
Referring to her polls-time government formula, she urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to respond to her proposal to break the prevailing political standoff.
Tomorrow happens to be the start of the 90-day countdown to the end of the government’s tenure.
“Your (government’s) time is over,” Khaleda said while addressing a rally of a pro-BNP teachers’ platform — Shikkhok-Karmachari Oikya Jote — at the Jatiya Press Club.
The opposition will now raise a movement to overthrow what she said “the illegal government”.
If the government tries to stop the movement, it will be responsible for the consequences, she warned.
The BNP chairperson urged the PM to take necessary steps regarding her proposal on an election-time interim government comprising advisers who served in the 1996 and 2001 caretaker governments.
“The ball is now in your court. We have proposed a formula on the polls-time government and presented it before the parliament. Now it’s your turn to catch it,” she said.
She pointed out that it was the government which asked opposition to place their proposals before the parliament, if they had any.
Explaining her proposal, the two-time former premier said: “There are still educated, qualified and neutral people in Bangladesh. So, a non-partisan government can be formed with them, which will not favour any specific party (in the election).”
She also claimed that her proposal can be materialised in line with the constitution. “It won’t be a problem if the ruling party elects them.”
“They (the elected members) will form the polls-time government and will have to leave after three months. They won’t take part in the general election,” Khaleda added.
