Police say they are yet to find any evidence suggesting the Bangladeshi man deported from Malaysia was linked to the Jul 1 attack.

Piyar Ahmed Akash was arrested on Aug 19 and deported to Bangladesh on Sep 2, reported Malaysian media.
The Star Online on Friday said the 39-year-old ran a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.
He had planned attacks in Bangladesh and had also met in Malaysia a suspect in the July 1 Dhaka cafe terror attack, the newspaper said.

Malaysian police did not reveal the name, but said he had an Interpol red corner notice on him.

Asaduzzaman Mia told the media on Saturday that they are yet to find any
evidence of terror link against Akash.
"We will verify the reports published in international media. Malaysia is yet to inform anything officially about his terror link," said the police commissioner.
The DMP top official said they had sought Interpol's assistance to arrest Akash, who went to Malaysia four to five years ago. "On its (Interpol's) red notice, Malaysia authorities deported him early this month.”
