Mujahid, has termed the wide-spread news of filing mercy plea by his
father to the president bogus.
“My father (Mujahid) cannot take decision of placing mercy plea to the president without consultation with us and our lawyers. The news which is being circulated in the media quoting the jail authorities is wholly bogus,” Mabrur told the Dhaka Tribune on Saturday afternoon.

On the other hand, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told journalists around 2:10pm he heard it from the reporters but he was yet to receive documents regarding the news.
Some media quoting the jail authorities, claimed that death-row convicts BNP senior leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mujahid sought mercy from the president.
