Inzamam-ul-Haq appointed as head coach of Afghan cricket team
KABUL: The former Pakistani cricket Inzamam-ul-Haq has been hired as the head coach of the Afghanistan National Cricket team, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said Friday.

A statement by ACB said Inzamam-ul-Haq will accompany the Afghan team during a series of matches against Zimbabwe.

The statement further added that Inzamam-ul-Haq was appointed as the head coach of the Afghanistan National Cricket team by the ACB and International Cricket Council members after he was interviewed for the post.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest Pakistani batsmen ever, Inzamam-ul-Haq has played 120 test matches and 378 One Day International (ODI) matches.

The 45-year-old former cricketer has also good experience in coaching, the statement by ACB added.

His appointment comes as the Afghan team will participate in a series of 5 ODI matches against Zimbabwe with the first ODI to be played on 16th of October at Bulawayo.

The Afghan team will also played two Twenty20 matches against Zimbabwe on 26th and 28 of this month.
