Thousands of people suffered on Dhaka city streets this afternoon
for the mass parade of Shipping Minster Shahjahan Khan that crippled
vehicular movements through key streets.
Thousands under banner Sammilita Sramik Peshajibi Oikya Parishad were seen to have taken part in the parade protesting the “nationwide atrocities of BNP-led 20-party alliance” since January 5.
The parade started from Manik Mia Avenue around 4:45pm and marched towards Suhrawardy Udyan creating a big gridlock on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue which stretched its adjoining thoroughfares.
Earlier in the morning, the city dwellers witnessed another traffic jam for hours following the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearance before a Dhaka court in Bakshibazar in two graft cases.
