A Dhaka Court today ordered to exhume the body of Nayar Sultana, a popular child actress named Tuni in the 1980s, for re-postmortem.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha passed the order after the victim’s mother Razia Sultana submitted a petition seeking permission for exhumation of the body.
The court ordered the principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College to form a three member body from forensic department to conduct the post mortem.
Earlier Dhaka Medical College forensic department carried out the initial postmortem and reported that Nayar Sultana committed suicide. But Razia in her petition claimed that it is “preplanned killing”.
On October 16, the body of the child actress of the popular drama serial ‘Ei Shob Din Ratri’ on Bangladesh Television was recovered hanging from her house at the capital's Gulshan.
Her husband Aly-Amin was arrested a few hours after the incident as Razia lodged a murder case with Gulshan police against him, bringing allegation that he provoked Sultana to commit suicide.
Razia claimed Aly-Amin was a drug addict and beat Nayar up on several occasions.
She further claimed, he strangled her daughter and then hung her from the ceiling and fled on that day.
Police sources said Razia on October 17 also sought bail for Aly-Amin, citing the reason of the children's well-being. She also said the family suspected it was a suicide.
The court, however, did not grant Aly-Amin the bail and sent him to jail.
