The Jatiya Party has
walked out of Parliament to press its demand for the removal of Biman
Bangladesh Airlines chairman for involvement of the national flag
carrier officials in gold smuggling.
During the unscheduled discussions on
Sunday, Opposition MPs held Biman board of director Chairman Jamal Uddin Ahmed
responsible for the mismanagement of the state-owned airline and demanded his
removal.At one stage, Kazi Feroz Rashid wanted to know from Civil
Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon if the Biman chairman would be
removed.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, who was conducting the session,
advised him to give notice as per the Rules of Procedure and gave Jatiya
Samajtantrik Dal MP Mainuddin Khan Badal the floor.Opposition MPs then
walked out of the session ked by Rashid.
They, however, came back after
five minutes.Independent MP Tahzeeb Alam Siddique also walked out of
Parliament for two minutes demanding Biman chairman’s removal.
Law
enforcers recently arrested five people, including Biman officials, for their
alleged involvement in gold smuggling at the Shahjalal International
Airport.
