ICT accepts war crimes charges of 2 ‘Razakars’

A special war crimes tribunal today accepted charges against alleged Razakars Mahidur Rahman and Afsar Hossain for crimes committed against humanity in 1971.
Alleged BNP supporters Mahidur and Afsar were charged with three charges of mass killing, arson, looting, abduction, torture, confinement and murder committed in Chapainawabganj as members of Razakar force in 1971.
International Crimes Tribunal-2, led by Justice Obaidul Hassan, set December 1 to begin further hearing for deciding indictment after taking the charges into cognisance today.
Mahidur Rahman, 84, of Dadanchak village, and Afsar Hossain alias Chutu, 65, of Satrosia village under Shibganj in Chapainawabganj are BNP supporters, according to the prosecution.
The duo were arrested in a criminal case filed with Chapainawabganj's Shibganj Police Station on September 16. Later, they were shown arrested in a war crimes case.
