The
West Bengal government has planned to set up a chair in Calcutta
University and name it after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants the chair to be inaugurated by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
"We want to create a "Bangabandhu Chair" in the Calcutta University after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and we want his daughter Sheikh Hasina to inaugurate it," Mamata told PTI news agency in Kolkata.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman studied at Kolkata's Islamia College (now known as Maulana Azad College) under the Calcutta University from where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1947.
