Usually
we don’t publish gory images. But in a departure from our editorial
norms, we are running this photo just to stress how people fall prey to
mindless political violence that plays out in our streets. In this
picture (partly pixelated), 14-year-old Monir, burned and blackened,
sits dazed on the road with his father wailing. The boy suffered severe
burns all over his body as pro-hartal pickets set fire to his father’s
