A flight of stairs only meant for use by her took BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to the podium at the Suhrawardy Udyan, venue of Friday's BNP rally.

Not even the BNP’s Standing Committee Members are allowed to use this stairs.

The stage built near Engineers Institutions has two rows of stairs - one on the south and the other on the north side of the stage.

The one on the north side was only used by Khaleda Zia.

Immediately after the stage was ready, the stair built for Khaleda’s ascent was closed down. Security officials posted near it prevented the BNP leaders from using the stairs after the rally started.

“Please, nobody should use the stairs built up for Madam. Not even the Standing Committee Members,” announced Abdus Salam, who was conducting the rally.

The other one used by all has become muddy, but the one for Khaleda was lined up with bricks to keep it relatively clean.
