How to master Jennifer Lawrence's bare-faced Dior skin

How to master Jennifer Lawrence's bare-faced Dior skin

Jennifer Lawrence's fresh complexion glows in the new issue of Dior Magazine. Here's how to achieve the look with a little help from skintone booster balms

A set of slick androgynous outfits and sharp black-and-white photography make this season's Dior Magazine shoot a thing of modern beauty, but it's their model - actress Jennifer Lawrence - who really pulls it all together. Despite her age (23) she brings a truckload of cool, calm and confidence to the images with a waxy quiff, under-styled poses and a perfectly indifferent French "boff" expression.
It's her face we're drawn to, because it's virtually naked bar a penciled-in eyebrow and a smudge of chocolate eyeliner. Her bare skin is the stuff of post-facial dreams: quenched with health, glossy in all the right places and free of any freckle-hiding foundation.

If that cellophane-skin look appeals, here is a prescription to get you one step closer to Jennifer's 23-year-old DNA.

The cleanser: start off with a brightening, slap-in-face purge via Clarins Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel (£12 clarins.co.uk), or Alpha-H Liquid Gold Cleanser (£29.50; qvcuk.com).

The serum: aim for one with added hyaluronic acid (to prevent cells from losing water through the day), such as Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boost (£24.99 boots.com) or Aptiva Natural Serum (£29.50 marksandspencer.com).
The moisturiser: we're looking for all-day dew, which means a formula with lingering richness that keep skin comfortable and elasticised for hours. Try L'Occitane Ultra Rich Face Cream (£31 uk.loccitane.com) or Estee Lauder Vita-Mineral Moisture Crème (£46 esteelauder.co.uk).

The tone correctors: because even ordinary 23-year-olds aren't flawless like J-Law. Clinique's Superprimer Face Primers (£20 clinique.co.uk) come in six subtly tinted shades to enhance and rebalance your skintone. They're practically invisible, but really do make a difference.
The tinted moisturiser: If you want to invest in a new one (if not, add a drop of your existing foundation to your moisturiser or to the above Primer) pick one with a fresh finish, such as Chanel Hydramax + Active Moisture Tinted Lotion (£38 boots.com) or Laura Mercier Illuminated Tinted Moisturiser (£33 houseoffraser.co.uk)
The secret weapon: warm a greasy balm between your fingertips (try Vaseline or Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream) and tap it over the tops of your cheekbones, down your nose and over the brow-bones and lips. The waxy texture won't evaporate, so you'll keep that healthy gleam for hours. Just make sure you quiff back your hair a-la-Jennifer-chez-Dior so that it doesn't stick to your face.
