DHAKA: Second quarter earnings for the world’s biggest smartphone maker, Samsung Electronics, will likely miss expectations.

The tech giant said, reports the BBC.
The South Korean company forecast that its operating profit from April to June is likely to fall 4% from a year ago to 6.9tn won ($6.13bn), lower than forecasts of 7.2tn won.

Its sales also fell 8% to 48tn won, below expectations of 53tn won.

The company is struggling to see growth in a saturated smartphone market.
The launch of its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, has been plagued with supply shortage issues, impacting its sales in the quarter, say analysts.

But Samsung has said that it has resolved the supply issue and expects the combined sales for the flat-screen and curved screen S6 models to hit a new sales record for the firm.
The earnings are expected to be the company’s highest quarterly profit since the same period last year.

DHAKA: The High Court (HC) Tuesday asked the Unilever Bangladesh to stop the illegal advertisements offering gold lockets for purchasing Lux soap.

An HC bench comprising Justice Moinul Hossain Chowdhury and M Ashraful Kamal passed the order following a writ public litigation.

The court also issued a rule why action should not be taken against Unilever under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Secretaries of Home and Commerce ministries, IGP, DMP Commissioner, Gulshan Thana OC and Unilever have been made respondents and asked to reply within four weeks.

Advocate Tawhidul Islam, who moved for the writ, said, “Under the section 294 (b) of the CrPC, circulating such advertisements are punishable offence.”

No more item songs: Shamita Shetty

Actress Shamita Shetty, known for her performances in films like “Mohabbatein” and Zeher, says she will not do item numbers again in movies.
The actress, whose item repertoire includes “Sharara Sharara” from “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai” and “Chori Pe Chori” in “Saathiya” (2002), said she hates the tag of item girl.
“I am tired of saying no to item songs. I don't want to be known as an item number girl. Fortunately, we actors get tagged easily,” the younger sister of Shilpa Shetty told PTI.
“I am looking to do something that challenges me as an actor. Now people are experimenting with various roles and subjects. I am open to doing everything. I don't want to do a film where I am just a show piece,” Shamita said.
“If there is fantastic character that comes my way which will shine either ways, then I am open to doing supportive roles as well. I don't want to restrict myself,” she added.
During her ten-year long career as an actress, she has also worked in a few Tamil and Telugu films but Shamita is not happy with the quantity of work she has done. “I have barely done something in my career. I was happy with the work I did, but I was not happy with the amount of work that I did,” she said.
“The wait for good work kept getting longer, I chose to learn something new - interior designing. I started getting more work there. So people thought I quit acting, but that was never the case, I was still waiting for something good to come my way. Acting has always been my first passion and it will always be,” she said.
The actress also hopes that her stint in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa would give her a new lease of life in Bollywood.
