‘যতো দ্রুত আলোচনা ততোই মঙ্গল’

সংসদে এসে বিরোধীদলীয় নেতার নির্বাচনকালীন নির্দলীয় সরকারের প্রস্তাব তুলে ধরে প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে আলোচনার অনুরোধ জানিয়েছে বিএনপি।   

বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য জমিরউদ্দিন সরকার বুধবার সন্ধ্যায় পয়েন্ট অব অর্ডারে দাঁড়িয়ে ১৮ দলীয় জোটের পক্ষ থেকে বিরোধী দলীয় নেতার প্রস্তাবটি সংসদে পড়ে শোনান।

এরপর তিনি বলেন, “আলোচনার মাধ্যমে যতো দ্রুত এর সমাধান করা যায় ততোই মঙ্গল। আমাদের আশা মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী প্রস্তাবটি গুরুত্ব দিয়ে বিবেচনা করবেন।তবে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা এ সময় অধিবেশনে উপস্থিত ছিলেন না।
প্রধানমন্ত্রীর প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্বের পর মাগরিবের বিরতি শেষে জমিরউদ্দিন সরকারের নেতৃত্বে বিরোধী দলের সদস্যরা অধিবেশন কক্ষে প্রবেশ করেন।
১৮ দলীয় জোটের শরিক জামায়াতে ইসলামী, বিজেপি ও এলডিপির সদস্যরাও অধিবেশনে ছিলেন।
দশম সংসদ নির্বাচন সামনে রেখে জনমনে রাজনৈতিক সংঘাতের আশঙ্কার মধ্যেই গত শুক্রবার জাতির উদ্দেশ্যে দেয়া ভাষণে নির্বাচনকালীন সর্বদলীয় মন্ত্রিসভার প্রস্তাব দেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। ওই সরকারের জন্য বিরোধী দলের কাছে নামও চান তিনি।
প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ভাষণের তিন দিন পর সোমবার রাজধানীর একটি হোটেলে সংবাদ সম্মেলন করে ওই প্রস্তাব নাকচ করেন বিরোধী দলীয় নেতা খালেদা জিয়া। এর বদলে একজন ‘সম্মানিত নাগরিকের’ নেতৃত্বে সাবেক ১০ উপদেষ্টাকে নিয়ে নির্বাচনকালীন অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের পাল্টা প্রস্তাব দেন খালেদা জিয়া। 
তার প্রস্তাব অনুযায়ী, ১৯৯৬ ও ২০০১ এর তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের ২০ উপদেষ্টার মধ্যে থেকে ১০ জনকে নিয়ে এ সরকার হবে। ক্ষমতাসীন আওয়ামী লীগ ও বিরোধী দল বিএনপি পাঁচটি করে নাম প্রস্তাব করবে।
আর ক্ষমতাসীন ও বিরোধীদলের ‘ঐক্যমতের ভিত্তিতে’ সকলের কাছে গ্রহণযোগ্য একজন ‘সম্মানিত নাগরিককে’ এই অন্তবর্তীকালীন সরকারের প্রধান হিসাবে দায়িত্ব দেয়া হবে।
‘শান্তি, স্থিতিশীলতা ও গণতন্ত্রের স্বার্থে’ প্রধানমন্ত্রী শিগগিরই এ প্রস্তাব নিয়ে আলোচনার উদ্যোগ নেবেন বলেও আশা প্রকাশ করেন বিরোধী দলীয় নেতা।
এরপর মঙ্গলবার সকালে ওই প্রস্তাব নিয়ে আলোচনার আহ্বান জানিয়ে আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক সৈয়দ আশরাফুল ইসলামকে চিঠি দেন বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর।
ওই চিঠিতে বলা হয়,‘গত ২১ অক্টোবর সংসদে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়া বর্তমান রাজনৈতিক সঙ্কট নিরসনের লক্ষ্যে আসন্ন জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনের জন্য নির্বাচনকালীন সরকারের একটি প্রস্তাব মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার উদ্দেশে তার বিবেচনার জন্য সংবাদ সম্মেলনে উপস্থাপন করেছেন। প্রস্তাবের অংশটুকু আপনার নিকট পাঠালাম।’
‘এ বিষয়ে অবিলম্বে আলোচনা শুরু করার প্রয়োজনীয় উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করতে আপনাকে সবিনয় অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছি।’
এর আগে সোমবার খালেদার সংবাদ সম্মেলনের পর সন্ধ্যায় তার সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করেন  যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রাষ্ট্রদূত ড্যান মজীনা, যিনি বরাবরই সংলাপের মাধ্যমে রাজনৈতিক সংকট নিরসনের তাগিদ দিয়ে আসছেন।
বৈঠকের পর তিনি সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, “প্রধানমন্ত্রী বক্তব্য দিয়ে আলোচনার দরজা খুলে দিয়েছেন। বিরোধী দলীয় নেতাও আজ বক্তব্য রেখেছেন। আমরা আশাবাদী দুই নেত্রীর বক্তব্যে আলোচনার দ্বার উন্মোচিত হবে।”

Jiah Khan suicide case: Bombay High Court orders fresh probe

Bombay High court has ordered fresh probe into Bollywood actress Jiah Khan's suicide case on October.
The court has ordered further investigation into the suicide case of the late actress .
Earlier this month, Jiah Khan's mother Rabbiya Khan had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court alleging that her daughter was murdered and had demanded a CBI probe into the death. The petition was filed on October 1.
Jiah's mother Rabbiya Amin has alleged that it has come to light that her daughter may have been killed and made to look as if she committed suicide.
To support her argument, Rabbiya has annexed to the petition an independent forensic expert's report which indicates the case to be homicidal death rather than suicide.
Alleging shoddy investigations by police to help Jiah's boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, the petition demands a CBI probe into the murder.
The petitioner said that she had strong reasons to suspect that the probe was carried out by police in a manner which made the death look like a suicide.
She alleged that Sooraj is the son of actor Aditya Pancholi and the family had used their clout to "manage" police.

The petition alleges that Jiah may have been hanged after being killed. It cites some reasons to support this theory.
The petition says that a person who commits suicide would have his or her eyes popping and tongue protruding out, while in the case of Jiah it was not so. Also, in such cases lung or brain hemorrhage is generally noticed, but in this case this was not observed.
The petition says that besides ligature marks that occur in death due to hanging, injury marks were noticed on Jiah\'s face and body. An injury was noticed on the right side of her lips and a mark on her left arm suggested as if someone had held her tightly.
While police claimed that Jiah had hanged herself with a muslin 'dupatta', forensic expert Dr R N Jerajani opined that the depth of ligature marks in Jiah's case was difficult to achieve with a soft material.
Jerajani has further opined that the ligature marks on Jiah's neck are not like the ones usually found on the body of a person who hangs self from a ceiling fan. The possibility of strangulation is not ruled out in this case, he said in the forensic report.
The petition further said that CCTV camera footage showed that Jiah had entered her house a few minutes before she committed suicide. At that time, she was wearing a track suit but her body was discovered in a night gown. Would a person about to commit suicide change her dress, the petition asks?
It further said that the ceiling fan was located in between two single beds and it was not possible for Jiah to hang herself without a stool and there was no stool in her house.
There is a window in Jiah's room at a low level in the first-floor flat. This window was found open although air-condition machine was on at the time of the incident, the petition said, adding that the window could have been used to gain entry into the room.
On June 3, Jiah was found hanging from her ceiling fan in the house. A week later, Suraj was arrested. He was released from jail on July 2 after the Bombay High Court granted him bail.

New Gaddafi book reveals how dictator imprisoned schoolgirls to rape them

LONDON: A book written by acclaimed French journalist Annick Cojean reveals that the slain Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi imprisoned schoolgirls to abuse and rape them on a daily basis.

In her book titled, 'Gaddafi's Harem', Cojean wrote that women who have been raped in Libya won't even discuss it with their family for being afraid of consequences.

Gaddafi's torture tales came to light when Cojean was investigating incidents of rape during Libya's 2011 revolution.

Cojean said that the girl named Soraya, who was 15 when she was abused and raped by the dictator, feels angry, afraid and desperate because she wanted justice, but now since the leader has been killed, she has realized there would never be any justice, metro.co.uk reports.

Cojean reveals another horror story of a woman who was raped, fell pregnant and had the baby in secret, because had she gone to a hospital she'd have been arrested for having sex outside marriage. But even when she married a rebel soldier, willing to salvage her honour, she was killed by her brothers.

According to the report, Gaddafi's former security chief, Mansour Daw, also revealed the horrific tales of the dictator's activities, and officials were so threatened that they sent their daughters to be educated overseas to avoid him.

The author further reveals that Gaddafi had his everyday prey and tried to woo performers, TV presenters, and wives of foreign dignitaries with gifts.

Cojean said that Gaddafi's female troop of bodyguards raises questions of how the international community overlooked his behaviour, which were frequently pictured with Gaddafi and believed to be an army of virgins, who had taken a vow of chastity and pledged their lives to protect him.

Cojean's book is now freely available in Libya, and in February, a group of demonstrators held copies of the book as they demanded a law to protect women who have been raped, the report added.
